Hailing from Oklahoma, Joel Muchmore caught the advocacy bug in high school where he was state champion for cross-examination debate. Joel then moved to the cornfields of Illinois to study the philosophy of language at Knox College and worked for a number of years in health care consulting before heading West. He graduated from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was active in the Moot Court Department where he landed a spot on the winning team for the 2002 National Moot Court Competition–widely considered the country’s most prestigious moot court competition. Joel has practiced in Northern California his entire career.
A steadfast believer in the power of written and oral advocacy, Joel has mentored dozens of young attorneys as they worked to form their craft. Joel is active in the legal community, serving for years as members of the Bar Association of San Francisco and the American Bar Association. Outside of work, Joel is a long-distance runner, husband, father, and (largely) vegan cook. He is a published writer and, after years as a gigging musician in San Francisco, he now assists Bay Area musicians in navigating their contractual agreements.
